Position description

Produces high quality images for interpretation by physicians that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Departments. Requires competence, as determined by competency assessments, in a variety of imaging equipment and technology. Practices proper safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients. Fosters teamwork through effective communication. Ensures high level of service to patients through proper communication, technique, and safety guidelines. Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths. Perform other functional duties as assigned to assure efficient and optimal patient care.


Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited sonography or radiography program. Organized, efficient and multifunctional. Ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates effective communication. Ability to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.


Additional qualifications

Ultrasound Sonographer experience preferred. Preference of qualifications include graduate of an accredited vascular technology program or previous work experience in a dedicated vascular center.

Approximately half of responsibilities to include complex vascular ultrasound imaging such as segmental pressures, venous insufficiency, venous mappings, vascular grafts and stents, and hemodialysis fistulas. Other responsibilities to include procedural assistance, abdominal, small parts, pelvic, and basic obstetrics ultrasound imaging. On the job training in general ultrasound will be considered. Breast imaging and obstetric anatomy imaging are not required in this position.



License or certification

ARDMS or ARRT certified in Sonography

ARDMS Certification in Vascular Technology Imaging within 6 months of hire. Abdomen and OB/GYN must also be completed within 24 months of hire. Employees that provide breast imaging will be required to get certification in that subspecialty within 24 months of achieved competency.

Appropriate state licensure from the state in which the candidate practices (if the state requires licensure).

Majority of shifts are 8 or 10 hour daytime shifts (between 7am - 6:30pm) Monday - Friday. Very limited on-call, holiday and off hour shifts.
